Women,
Infants and Children
The Community Action Council
provides WIC services to eligible residents of Mason and Thurston Counties.
We serve low-income, nutritionally at risk pregnant women, post
partum mothers and children up to their 5th birthday. Clients
must meet income guidelines, a state residency requirement and be
individually determined to be at “Nutritional Risk” by a health
professional.
|
|
What is
nutritional risk?
Nutritional risk is a medically-based condition
including anemia, being underweight, maternal age, history of pregnancy
complications, poor pregnancy outcomes or inadequate dietary
patterns. Clients are screened
by RD's at our WIC clinics in Lacey and Shelton. (Nutrition education and
counseling, along with supplemental nutritious foods may be provided.
Participants also are referred to other health, welfare and social services when
appropriate).
