About the Program

Minor home repair is provided in conjunction with state, private and federal weatherization dollars to perform minor repairs on homes eligible to receive weatherization retrofits.

About the Housing Rehabilitation Program

The Council has contracted with Thurston County to provide housing rehabilitation to low-income Tenino area residents who own their homes. Rehabilitation measures are limited to project review, funding limits and a final project Scope of Work mutually determined by the owner and project manager. People interested in housing rehabilitation outside this service area should contact their local Housing Authority or City’s housing program for information.

The Community Action Council is now accepting applications for City of Tenino low-income homeowners in need of assistance with minor home repairs and rehabilitation.   This assistance is federally funded and only eligible homeowners within the city limits whose household income is at or below 80% of median income may apply.  Please contact Kirsten York at (360) 438-1100, extension 1136, for an application and to be put on the waiting list.

Who is eligible?

To qualify for minor repair, the gross income received by all household members must be at or below 200 percent of the federally established poverty guidelines; other income guidelines apply for the rehabilitation program.  Low-income applicants of single-family, owner-occupied dwellings may be eligible for these grants and loans.  Repairs provided on rental units require match participation from the owner(s). The condition of the home, the assessed property value and the HUD mortgage guidelines are all factors when determining eligibility. Homes that are severely deteriorated and require extensive repairs may be ruled “beyond the scope of the program” and therefore ineligible for weatherization and minor home repair services.
