Family Support Program

What is the Family Support Program?

It is an opportunity to meet one on one with a Family Support Counselor to help your family set and meet goals (short and long term).

This program can be tailored to your family’s individual needs and is client led. It is designed to assist your family in becoming self-sufficient and stop relying on public assistance.

Who is Eligible?

Families that are serious about setting and working toward achieving goals.

Families that do not currently have household members involved with CPS, CWS or First Steps (to avoid duplication of services).

What Can I Expect at the Appointments?

The first appointment will last between 1˝ to 2 hours so the counselor can complete intake paperwork and discuss and set goals. The family and the counselor will then meet every two weeks for approximately one hour for the first two months, and then once a month for an hour.

Progress will be assessed monthly and new goals set when appropriate.

What is the Purpose?

You and the Family Support Counselor will meet to explore your family’s needs, set goals, determine how to best meet these goals, and discuss all possible resources. The appointments can occur at the Community Action Council, in your home, or in other community agencies such as the CSO, Employment Security office, or even at your children’s school; depending on your family’s needs.
